| Description: |
This Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation by the Township of Georgian Bluffs (the Township) to prospective proponents to submit proposals from qualified engineering consulting firms for the pre-engineering, design, tender preparation and contract administration for replacement of two (2) structures, as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix C) (the “Deliverables”). The structures include: • Structure K-009 known as Big Bay Culvert in the community of Big Bay; and The Consultant must consider roadside upgrades as well, including but not limited to ditch work, guide rail and road improvements. During the biennial 2024 Ontario Structure Inspection Manual program it was determined that the structures are in an overall critical condition and replacement is urgent. Structure K-009 – Big Bay The 2024 OSIM revealed large perforations and evidence of active overstressing of the culvert barrel walls. There are two large perforations noted at the north and south walls of the culvert. The north perforation measures 4.0m x 0.3m, which has caused the north wall of the barrel to settle and slip below the invert. Bolt hole cracking and crimping of the barrel corrugations was also noted along the south wall. Due to the presents of these deficiencies, the structure appears to be exhibiting buckling / failure issues. The culvert type is SPCSP with a 2.5 metre span and an overall approximate length of 19.3 metres crossing Big Bay Creek. Structure K-021 - Kemble The culverts located on Concession 20 running East to West are two (2) CSP with 1.5 metre span and an overall approximate length 46.5m. The culvert located on Kemble Rock Road running North to South are one CSP with a 1.5 metre span and an overall approximate length of 30 m. |
